The Office of Building Commissioner is hereby established for
the City of Pacific.

The Building Commissioner shall be appointed by the Mayor with
the approval of the Board of Aldermen.

The Building Commissioner shall hold his/her office for a term
to run concurrently with the term of the Mayor by whom he/she was
appointed and until his/her successor shall have been appointed and
qualified.

The Building Commissioner shall be the Code Official for the
City of Pacific. The Building Commissioner shall issue building permits
for all construction within the City limits; shall enforce the Building
Codes and the Zoning Ordinances of the City and any regulations promulgated
thereunder; shall enforce the ordinances of the City pertaining to
the erection, construction, use and location of buildings and structures
of all types; and shall be empowered to perform all inspections for
the enforcement of the Building Code, Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code,
Fire Prevention Code, Property Maintenance Code, electrical installations,
the Zoning Ordinances or other ordinances of the City relating to
the erection and construction of buildings, maintenance or use of
buildings, structures and premises, demolition of buildings, and other
such related items pertaining to the health, safety and welfare of
the public. The duties of the Code Enforcement Officer and Animal
Control Officer shall be subject to the supervision and direction
of the Building Commissioner.
