Any unapproved structures in the public right-of-way
street or sidewalk constructed before the date of this ordinance shall
be permitted if the owner or tenant provides an indemnification agreement
to the Township on the form prescribed (Appendix A).[1]
Mailboxes located in the right-of-way must be installed to the U.S.
Postal Service specifications contained in Appendix B.[2] Additionally, there must be at least 36 inches of clear
zone under the mailbox support arm, as measured from the road surface.
During winter maintenance operations, if a mailbox is hit by a plow,
the Township will replace it with a standard four-inch by four-inch
wooden post and standard polyvinyl chloride (PVC) mailbox.
