There is hereby established the office of Animal Control Officer,
which officer shall be appointed by the Mayor for an indefinite period
with the advice and consent of the City Council. The Animal Control
Officer shall immediately seek and obtain training through a formal
program or on-the-job training in the City or any other municipality
with a similar or same animal control program.

A. The
Animal Control Officer shall be an agent of the City to enforce and
assist in enforcement of all ordinances of the City in relation to
animal control and licensing.
B. The
Animal Control Officer shall be directly and immediately responsible
to the Chief of Police.

The City Council, at their discretion, shall compensate the
Animal Control Officer for his/her services at a fixed salary per
month or an hourly rate basis as the Council at its discretion and
with the consent of the Animal Control Officer may agree. If the City
Animal Control Officer is to be paid by a fixed or set salary, the
City Council shall, by ordinance, designate such salary. In the event
the Animal Control Officer furnishes any equipment or goods of his/her
own for the purposes of his/her duties as Animal Control Officer,
such compensation for furnishing such goods or services shall be at
an agreed rate in advance set by contract with the Mayor and the City
Council.
