Every animal or fowl, other than dogs, found in violation of this Chapter may be taken up and impounded by the Chief of Police or the Director or Chief Managing Supervisor of the Animal Control Department or such agents as they may from time to time designate and appoint.

The impoundment of animals and fowl shall be as provided in Sections 205.330 through 205.370 of this Chapter. After the impoundment of any animal, where a summons has not been issued to the owner or keeper thereof, the Animal Control Officer shall promptly notify the owner or keeper if the owner or keeper can be located by reasonable efforts or if the owner or keeper is known to the impounding officer. However, no liability shall attach to the City or impounding officer where the owner or keeper is not notified of the impoundment. An owner or keeper who does not redeem the impounded animal or fowl shall not be relieved from liability for violating any Sections of this Article as a result of the owner or keeper's failure to redeem.

Any animal or fowl impounded under the provisions of this Article shall be returned to the owner or keeper thereof upon proof that such person is entitled to the possession of such animal or fowl and upon payment of all costs which may have charged against such animal or fowl. The payment of such costs shall not relieve such owner or keeper of an impounded animal or fowl from the liability for violation of the provisions of this Chapter.

A. 
City Residents. The actual costs incurred by the City in impounding any animal or fowl and keeping the same shall be charged against such animal or fowl.
B. 
Non-City Residents — Additional Charge For Animal Control Shelter Services. The following daily fee schedule shall be in full force and effect, as of January 1, 2010, until further action of the Council:

Any animal or fowl impounded under the provisions of this Article which has not been redeemed by its owner or keeper within six (6) days after its impoundment may be sold by the Chief of Police or the Director or Chief Managing Supervisor of the Animal Control Department or such agents as they may, from time to time, designate and appoint.
