A certain document, one (1) copy of which is on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, being marked and designated as the International Mechanical Code, 2018 Edition, as published by the International Code Council, be and is hereby adopted as the Mechanical Code of the City of Poplar Bluff, in the State of Missouri, for regulating and governing the design and installation of mechanical systems, appliances, appliance venting, duct and ventilation systems, combustion air provisions, hydronic systems, and solar systems within the City limits of Poplar Bluff; providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said Mechanical Code on file in the office of the City Clerk are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this Article, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed in Section
500.071 of this Article.

A. The
following Sections of the International Mechanical Code, 2018 Edition,
are hereby revised as follows:
1. Section 101.1: City of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
2. Section 106.5.2: The fees for mechanical work shall be those listed in Section
530.320 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
3. Section 108.4: Deleted in its entirety and replace with the following:
Any person who shall violate any provision of the code adopted in
this Article or shall fail to comply with any of the requirements
thereof or who shall erect, construct, alter or repair a building
or structure in violation of an approved plan of or directive of the
Code Official, or of a permit or certificate issued under the provision
of this code, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine
of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment
not exceeding ninety (90) days, or both such fine and imprisonment.
Each day that a violation continues after due notice has been served
shall be deemed a separate offense.
4. Section 108.5: Replace with the following: Stop work orders. Upon
notice from the Code Official that mechanical work is being performed
contrary to the provisions of this code or in a dangerous or unsafe
manner, such work shall immediately cease. Such notice shall be in
writing and shall be given to the owner of the property, or to the
owner's authorized agent, or to the person doing the work. The notice
shall state the conditions under which work is authorized to resume.
Where an emergency exists, the Code Official shall not be required
to give written notice prior to stopping the work. Any person who
shall continue any work on the system after having been served with
a stop work order, except such work as that person is directed to
perform to remove a violation or unsafe condition, shall be liable
for a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00).
5. Section 109: Deleted in its entirety and replaced with Chapter
405, Article
VI, Section
405.330, Board of Adjustment, of the City of Poplar Bluff Code of Ordinances.
