No person shall willfully or maliciously torture, torment, beat, kick, strike, mutilate, injure, disable or kill any dog being used by the Police Department of the Township of Mount Olive in the performance of the functions or duties of such Department, nor shall any person interfere with or meddle with such a dog during its use by said Department or any member thereof in the course of the performance of any of the functions or duties of said Department or of any officer or member thereof.

Any person, firm or corporation who violates any provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable by one or more of the following: by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days or by a fine not exceeding $1,000 or by a period of community service not exceeding 90 days.
