[Adopted 5-22-1979 (Ch. 8, Art. V, of the 1990 Code)]
There is established in the Township of Mount Olive a Water and Sewer Advisory Committee.
Said Committee shall consist of at least five members but no more than seven members.
The Members of the Committee shall be appointed by the Council, and the Council shall designate one of the appointed members to act as temporary Chairman of the Committee until such time as the Committee selects its own permanent Chairman.
Each member of the Committee shall serve for a term of three years following the effective date of his appointment, except that the initial appointments shall be as follows: two for two years and the remainder for three years.
The Committee shall have the following powers and duties:
A. 
To study the water and sewer rates in other communities as compared to the water and sewer rates in Mount Olive and to make recommendations concerning the same to the Council.
B. 
To evaluate the financial liabilities and benefits of each of the water and sewer systems owned by the Township of Mount Olive and make recommendations to the Council concerning the same.
C. 
To evaluate all of the currently existing private water systems that might be acquired by the Township of Mount Olive and make recommendations to the Council regarding the advisability of acquiring these systems.
D. 
To study the feasibility and the potential benefits and/or burdens of establishing a municipal utility authority within the Township and make recommendations to the Council concerning the same.
A. 
In order to perform its duties, the Committee may request any relevant information that may be in the possession of any department in the Township administration, including but not limited to the Engineering Department, the Water and Sewer Department, the Planning Department and the Township Auditors.
B. 
The Committee may receive any relevant information from any adjoining municipality or state agency in furtherance of its aforementioned duties.
