The Board of Review of the Town of Algoma shall consist of five residents of the Town appointed by the Town Board for a term of three years. Not more than two members of the Board of Review may be members of the Town Board. Each member is subject to removal by a majority vote of the Town Board of the Town of Algoma. Initially, two members shall be appointed for a three-year term, two members shall be appointed for a two-year term and one member shall be appointed for a one-year term. Successors shall be appointed for three-year terms commencing at the expiration of each of the initial terms and the expiration of each term thereafter. In addition to other provisions of this article, Board of Review members may be removed or recused as provided in § 70.47(6m), Wis. Stats.
A. 
First alternate. The Town Chair shall serve as first alternate member of the Board of Review. He or she shall serve as a member of such Board in the event of absence or disqualification of one of the regular members.
B. 
Second alternate.
(1) 
The senior Town Supervisor shall serve as second alternate member of the Board of Review and shall serve as a member of such Board in the following events:
(a) 
More than one of the regular members is absent or disqualified; or
(b) 
One of the regular members is absent or disqualified and the first alternate is also absent or disqualified.
(2) 
In the event there is more than one Supervisor with the same consecutive years of service, the senior Supervisor who received the highest number of votes in his or her most recent election shall serve as second alternate.
The members of the Board of Review shall receive compensation as established from time to time by the Town Board of the Town of Algoma. Members who are full-time employees or full-time officers of the Town of Algoma shall not receive compensation.

The Clerk of the Town of Algoma shall serve as Clerk of the Board of Review and shall keep an accurate record of Board proceedings. The Board of Review shall meet at the Town Hall of the Town of Algoma at such time as is prescribed by applicable statutes of the State of Wisconsin. All proceedings of the Board of Review are to be open to all citizens at all times. No formal action of any kind shall be introduced, deliberated upon or adopted in any closed session or closed meeting of the Board of Review. All meetings shall be conducted pursuant to Chapter 70 of the Wisconsin Statutes as amended from time to time, other applicable Wisconsin law, and Robert's Rules of Order. The Board of Review shall select its own Chair.
