with the Rehabilitation Act of 1974 (the basic requirement of which
prohibits discrimination on the basis of handicapped status). Prohibitions
against such discrimination shall apply in the hiring or firing, compensation

The Town of Lysander shall take and continue to take steps to
notify the public of specific changes made by the Town to improve
access to programs and activities by the handicapped.
The Town shall evaluate its current policy and practices in
order to determine the areas of noncompliance with Section 504 of
the Rehabilitation Act, if any, and thereafter make nonstructural changes to achieve
compliance, if any are necessary.
The Town shall determine the areas where structural changes
may be necessary, and it agrees to prepare transition plans in order
to show how and when said changes, if any are necessary, will be made.
The transition plans shall show changes over a period not to exceed
three years from the date of adoption of this chapter.
[Amended at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General
Provisions, Art. I)]
The self-evaluation transition plans, pursuant to the Americans
with Disability Act and Section 504 of the Americans with Disability
Act, as hereinabove described, shall be available for public inspection
at the office of the Town Clerk.
[Amended at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General
Provisions, Art. I)]

shall be responsible for the coordination of efforts to comply with
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
The procedure to be followed in the event that a grievance is
filed alleging handicapped discrimination shall be as follows:
A. A complaint, in writing, must be filed with the Clerk of the Town
of Lysander.
B. The Town Clerk shall then make copies of said complaint and deliver
them to each Town Board member.
C. The Town Board will thereafter consider said complaint at a time
and date to be set by it after due notification to the complainant.
