The purpose of this article is to identify those City employees who are required to reside within the City of Lake Mills or within a prescribed distance of the City of Lake Mills corporate limits due to the potential need to recall these employees in an emergency situation.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY GOVERNMENT
The individual appointed by the City Council as the Director of Emergency Government.
FIREFIGHTERS
All full-time sworn firefighters.
LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
All sworn law enforcement officers, including the Chief of Police, Captains, Lieutenants, Sergeants, and Patrol Officers.

Full-time law enforcement officers of the Lake Mills Police Department, all full-time firefighters of the Lake Mills Fire Department, and the Director of Emergency Government shall reside within a fifteen-mile radius of City limits. The fifteen-mile radius is measured as a straight line distance from the individual's residence to the nearest point of City limits. All distances are rounded down to the nearest whole mile. All individuals subject to this section shall meet the residency requirement at the time of their appointment or hire, unless approved otherwise by the City Manager. There shall be no residency requirement for other City employees.
