Upon the effective date of this article, the Village of Chestnut Ridge shall cease to be an assessing unit, as defined in § 102 of the Real Property Tax Law; and Village Taxes shall thereafter be levied by the Village of Chestnut Ridge on a copy of the part of the Town of Ramapo assessment roll applicable to the Village of Chestnut Ridge.
This article shall take effect upon the expiration of 45 days after its adoption by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Chestnut Ridge or, if it shall be submitted at a referendum for approval by the electors, upon such approval; provided, however, that if this article takes effect on or after the taxable status date of the Village of Chestnut Ridge and before Village taxes are levied on an assessment roll based on such taxable status date, the Village of Chestnut Ridge shall not cease to be an assessing unit until after such Village taxes are levied.
