Pursuant to Section 8a of the Stille-DeRossett-Hale Single State Construction Code Act (MCLA § 125.1508a), as amended, the state building code is hereby adopted for the regulation of design, erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, conversion, use, equipment, and size requirements and limitations and maintenance of all buildings or in remodeled or renovated facilities in the Village. Such code shall provide for the issuance of permits therefor, and for penalties for violation of the code, provided that printed copies of the state building code shall be kept in the office of the Village Manager for inspection by, and distribution to, the public.

Pursuant to the provisions of the state building code, in accordance with Act No. 230 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1972 (MCLA § 125.1501 et seq.), as amended, the Building Official of the Village is hereby designated as the enforcing agency to discharge the responsibilities of the Village under Act No. 230 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1972 (MCLA § 125.1501 et seq.), as amended. The Village assumes responsibility for the administration and enforcement of such Act throughout its corporate limits.

All swimming pools shall be enclosed as provided in the building code adopted in § 165-8. Chain-link fences are specifically prohibited; provided, however, that chain-link fences constructed prior to August 4, 1975, are permitted.

A person who violates any provision of this article is responsible for a municipal civil infraction, subject to payment of a civil fine as set forth in § 55-8. Repeat offenses under this article shall be subject to increased fines as set forth in § 55-8.
