As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
Any person making written application to the Township for
a driveway or road occupancy permit under this chapter.
A completed and signed application on the form provided by
the Township with other necessary and required supplemental information,
such as maps, plans, sight distance and drainage analyses, and the
required fee and deposit.
The portion of the roadway improved with the travelway and
the shoulders.
Any means of vehicular traffic access to or from property
abutting a street or road, including minimum-use driveways, local
roads, roads, streets, lanes, alleys, courts, and ways, further defined
as minimum use, low volume, medium volume and high volume.
A driveway used or expected to be used by 1,500 or more vehicles
per day.
A nonresidential driveway used or expected to be used by
less than 750 vehicles per day, or any driveway used or expected to
be used by more than 25, but less than 750, vehicles per day.
A driveway used or expected to be used by 750 or more, but
less than 1,500, vehicles per day.
A residential driveway used or expected to be used by not
more than 25 vehicles per day.
The area within the road right-of-way which has been constructed
for roadway purposes, including the roadbed, pavement, shoulders,
side slopes, sidewalk, drainage facilities and any other appurtenances.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
A driveway or road occupancy permit issued by the Township,
based on an approved application submitted pursuant to this chapter.
The applicant, if and when the application is approved, and
a permit issued by the Township pursuant to this chapter; the holder
of a permit under this chapter.
Any person, firm, corporation, association, partnership,
company, political subdivision or organization of any kind. The term
shall include any independent contractor undertaking work on a driveway
on behalf of the property owner as described in this chapter.

The entire width of a street or road between the right-of-way
lines, over which the right has been assumed or otherwise acquired
by the Township for public road, street or highway purposes, or the
area which has been shown as a road on a subdivision plan.
The Township's authorized representative assigned to
inspect permit operations, review applications and related information,
issue permits, and otherwise administer this chapter. The Roadmaster
and/or Board of Supervisors may designate another individual, such
as the Codes Enforcement Officer, to undertake any of the duties of
the Roadmaster as described in this chapter.

The area over which the right has been assumed or otherwise
acquired by the Township for public road, street or highway purposes,
or the area within the right-of-way lines of a road shown on a subdivision
plan.
That portion of a street or road which is improved, designed
or ordinarily used for vehicular travel, including shoulders, but
excluding any sidewalks.
That portion of the improved area within a street or road
which is contiguous to the traffic lanes (travelway).
Stopping sight distance or the distance along the roadway
along which a driver at a specific location can continuously see a
vehicle approaching or stopped on the roadway.
The distance required by a driver traveling at a given speed
to safely stop the vehicle after an object on the roadway becomes
visible to the driver.
A road.
The Township of Polk, Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
Any sign, signal, marking or device placed or installed for
the purpose of regulating, warning, directing, controlling or guiding
vehicular traffic or pedestrians.
The portion of the roadway that is improved for the movement
of vehicles, exclusive of shoulders; the traffic lanes; generally,
the paved portion of the roadway.
Every device in or by which any person or property is or
may be transported or driven upon a road, street or highway.
