In accordance with Connecticut General Statutes § 22a-42, there shall be an Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission consisting of seven members and two alternate members to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Four members will be appointed to serve to June 2007; three members will be appointed to serve to June 2009. Two alternate members will be appointed to serve until June 2007 and June 2009, respectively. Thereafter, the term of each office will be for a period of four years. Any vacancy in the Commission will be filled by the Board of Selectmen for the remainder of the term of the vacated position.
This chapter will become effective 15 days following publication, per the requirements of Connecticut General Statutes § 7-157.[1] Effective immediately upon the effective date of this chapter, the ordinance titled "Inland Wetlands and Watercourses" enacted by Town Meeting held on October 23, 1972, and designating the Conservation Commission as the agency responsible for implementing Public Act 155, An Act Concerning Inland Wetlands and Watercourses, as signed into law by Governor Meskill on May 19, 1972, is repealed and of no effect, and all duties, responsibilities, acts, materials, rulings, and rules and regulations of the Conservation Commission in this capacity as the agency responsible for municipal regulation of wetlands and watercourses are transferred to the Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Commission established herein.
