The following official holidays with pay shall be observed by the Township:
New Year's Day
Martin Luther King Day
Presidents' Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
July 4th
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Veteran's Day
Thanksgiving Day and day after
Christmas Day
b. 
In the event that an official holiday is observed during an employee's vacation, he shall be entitled to an additional vacation day, and should an official holiday occur while an employee is on sick leave, he shall not have the holiday charged against his sick leave.
c. 
The observance of religious holidays other than those listed in paragraph a above may be granted by the Administrator or designee and shall be charged against earned vacation leave.
d. 
Employees of the Department of Public Works who work on any of the holidays listed above shall be paid for such work at the rate of 2 1/2 times the employee's regular rate which shall be inclusive of the holiday pay. Overtime shall not be paid if working on a holiday.
Former subsection 9-7.2, Personal Days, previously codified herein was repealed in its entirety by Ordinance No. 257-12.

This Township provides Paid Time Off to all full-time permanent employees after their probationary period has ended; however, no employee shall be entitled to a Paid Time Off prior to the completion of six months of consecutive service.

It is the policy of the Township that each employee take advantage of the authorized Paid Time Off for reasons of health, rest, relaxation, and pleasure and thus extra compensation in lieu of Paid Time Off shall not be allowed unless prior authorization shall be obtained from the Township Committee.
b. 
If due to specific circumstances all Paid Time Off is not used within the calendar year, Paid Time Off not to exceed five days may be carried to the next calendar year. The carrying of such Paid Time Off to the next year must be approved by the Business Administrator and authorized by the Township Committee.

a. 
Permanent part-time employees who become full-time employees shall receive credit toward full-time Paid Time Off benefits as follows:
An employee who worked for two full calendar years of four hours or more per day, or who worked for two full calendar years of two or more days per week shall receive credit for working one year.

a. 
A full-time employee hired in the current year on or before March 1 of the calendar year is entitled to 12 Paid Time Off days after completing a minimum of six months service. Twenty-two days in the subsequent year.
b. 
A full-time employee hired in the current year after March 1 and before May 1 of the calendar year shall be entitled to 10 Paid Time Off days during that calendar year upon completion of six months service. Twenty-two days in the subsequent year.
c. 
A full-time employee hired on May 1 or before June 15 shall be entitled to eight Paid Time Off days during the calendar year upon completion of six months service. Twenty-two days in the subsequent year.
d. 
A full-time employee hired on June 15 through September 30 in the current year shall be entitled to four Paid Time Off days to be used during the first six months of the subsequent year upon the completion of six months service. Fourteen days to be used during the second six months of the subsequent year.
e. 
A full-time employee hired between October 1 and December 31 in the current year shall be entitled to 15 Paid Time Off days to be used during the second six months of the subsequent year upon the completion of six months service.

Following completion of the first year service, full-time employees of the Township of Upper Freehold will receive annual Paid Time Off leave as follows:

Employees must schedule their Paid Time Off for four days or more with their Supervisor or Department Head at least two weeks in advance of their Paid Time Off in triplicate on the form provided by the Business Administrator for that purpose. Employees must schedule their Paid Time Off for two or three days in length with their Supervisor or Department Head at least one week in advance of the Paid Time Off. After signing his/her approval, the Supervisor or Department Head shall turn the form over to the Business Administrator. An approved copy of the form will be returned to the employee and a copy forwarded to the Finance Officer. The employee shall make every effort to schedule their Paid Time Off so as to not coincide with Paid Time Off of other employees within that Department.
The Department Head and/or Business Administrator shall approve Paid Time Off in accordance with the best interest and needs of the Township of Upper Freehold.
