The following grievance procedure for handling complaints filed under
the Americans with Disabilities Act be and hereby is adopted.
All complaints regarding access by handicapped persons to Village facilities
or alleged discrimination shall be submitted, in writing, to the Village Clerk.
The Village Clerk shall render a decision on the complaint within 15
working days following receipt of the complaint.
If the complaint has not been resolved to the satisfaction of the complainant,
it shall be forwarded to the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees shall review the complaint at the regularly scheduled
Board of Trustees meeting first following its receipt of the complaint. Such
review shall occur at an open, public session of the Board.
The Board of Trustees shall render a decision on the complaint within
30 days following its review.
A written record of the action taken at each step of the grievance procedure
shall be maintained and filed with a copy of the complaint. In the case of
action taken by the Board of Trustees, such action shall be recorded as part
of the minutes of the meeting.
