No person shall engage in the business of plumbing
within the Village of Lindenhurst until he shall obtain a license
from the Examining Board of Plumbers.

Any person desiring a master plumber's license
shall make application, in writing, together with a filing and examination
fee of $50, not returnable, and accompanied by two photographs of
the applicant, approximately 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches taken
within the past 30 days, to the Plumbers' Examining Board, which Board
shall arrange and conduct an examination as to the competency and
qualifications of such applicant within six months of the date of
said application.
A.
Upon the submission of satisfactory proof to the Board
of Examiners, the Board may waive the formal examination requirement
in cases where the applicant has continually maintained and actively
engaged in the occupation of plumbing as a principal occupation for
a period of not less than five years and has maintained his principal
place of business in the Village of Lindenhurst for said five-year
period.
B.
An applicant wishing to take advantage of this waiver
provision must make appropriate application within a period not exceeding
90 days from the appointment of the full Board of Examiners.
A partnership or corporation may establish,
engage in or carry on the business of plumbing under a master plumber's
license granted in accordance with the provisions of this section
to a master plumber who is a member of such business and who will
be responsible for the carrying on of said business in accordance
with the provisions of the laws, ordinances and regulations of the
state, county, town and Village applicable to said business.
After such examination, said Board shall endorse
on said application its approval or disapproval of the application
and, if approved, shall grant a license to said applicant.

A fee of $100 shall be paid at the time a master
plumber's license is issued.

Every license shall expire on December 31 and
shall be valid for three calendar years. However, any license obtained
after January 1 of any year shall be valid for the remainder of that
calendar year and for two calendar years thereafter. Licenses may
be renewed, without examination, on the payment of $50 per year or
fraction thereof, provided that such renewal is applied for prior
to January 1 of the year following said expiration date.
Whenever a licensed master plumber shall retire
from business or remove his place of business from the place named
in his application for license, the Building Department shall be notified
of such retirement or removal and shall be given the address of the
new place of business of such removal.
A.
The Examining Board of Plumbers of the Village of
Lindenhurst may, after determining that a municipality maintains a
standard of licensing plumbers equivalent to that maintained in the
Village of Lindenhurst, enter into a written reciprocal agreement
with such municipality wherein each party shall waive examination
of plumbers holding a license and certificate of competency from the
other party, but such agreement shall not have any effect on any fees
charged by the Examining Board of Plumbers of the Village of Lindenhurst.
B.
When any applicant for a Village plumbing license maintains either his residence or principal place of business in a municipality by which he is licensed and certified competent and such municipality has entered into a reciprocal agreement with the Examining Board of Plumbers of the Village of Lindenhurst, then the examination required in § 134-6 hereof shall be waived.
C.
Such applicants shall furnish a photostatic copy of
their certificate of competency, together with a letter of good standing
issued by such municipality, setting forth the fact that such applicant
does maintain either his principal place of business or residence
within such municipality.
D.
Such applicants shall receive a card of registration
only. Residents of the Village of Lindenhurst having their principal
places of business in the Village of Lindenhurst who hold a master
plumber's license from a municipality which shall have entered into
a reciprocal agreement with the Examining Board of Plumbers of the
Village of Lindenhurst may be licensed with the examination waived,
but the fee paid shall be the same as for those requiring examination
by the Examining Board of Plumbers. No certificate of competency shall
be issued to any applicant unless he has been examined by the Examining
Board of Plumbers of the Village of Lindenhurst.
A license granted under the provisions of this
chapter shall be in force until it expires or is revoked by the Plumbers'
Examining Board after notice to the licensee that it is proposed to
revoke the license and a hearing in the matter at which the licensee
shall have an opportunity to appear and be heard in relation to such
revocation.
No master plumber shall, directly or indirectly,
allow his license to be used in connection with work not actually
done by him or under his supervision.[1]

Every master plumber shall file with the Building
Department a certificate of insurance covering himself, herself or
the corporation or company operating under such master plumber's license,
in the amounts of public liability $500,000 each person, $1,000,000
each accident and property damage, $100,000 each accident, providing
coverage for liability arising out of plumbing operations conducted
in the Village of Lindenhurst. Said policy is to remain in full force
and effect throughout the period for which said master plumber shall
be licensed. Said certificate of insurance shall contain a clause
stating that, in the event that the policy which it certifies shall
be canceled, 10 days' notice thereof shall be given, by registered
or certified mail, to the Building Inspector, Village of Lindenhurst,
Village Hall, Lindenhurst, New York.
