Every owner, tenant, lessee or occupant of any house, store, building or of any part thereof or of any premises in this Township shall, upon the days appointed by the proper authorities for the collection of garbage, ashes and rubbish, place all receptacles containing such ashes, garbage and rubbish, properly covered, upon the sidewalk in front of his, her or their premises, as near the curb as the same can be conveniently placed, and immediately after the same are emptied remove them from the sidewalk; provided, however, that it shall be the duty of the collectors of garbage to collect any garbage from any premises upon which underground containers are installed, from and out of said containers, where said containers are installed within 25 feet of the sideline of any street and there is an unobstructed walk or drive leading from said street to said container; and provided further that nothing herein contained shall limit or prohibit the collectors of garbage, ashes and rubbish from making collections from the premises rather than from the sideline of the street.
In complying with the provisions of the preceding section, all garbage composed of animal or vegetable substances shall be placed in containers separate and apart from ashes, dirt or other household refuse not composed of animal or vegetable substances.
Receptacles for ashes, garbage, dirt or other household refuse shall not exceed 26 inches in height, 18 inches in diameter and 20 pounds in weight, including covers.
Boxes or baskets containing ashes, garbage, dirt or other household refuse are hereby prohibited and shall not be placed on the curb in accordance with the provisions of § 157-59 hereof.
All receptacles must be equipped with proper covers and proper handles to facilitate the removal of their contents.
