For the purposes of this chapter, the following definitions shall be applicable unless the context clearly indicates to the contrary:
PERSON
Any individual, natural person, joint-stock company, partnership, voluntary association, society, club, firm, company, corporation, business trust, organization or any other group acting as a unit, with a manager, lessee, agent, servant, partner, member, director, officer or employee of any of them, including an executor, administrator, trustee, receiver or other representative appointed according to law.
VEHICLE
Every device in, upon or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a street of the Town of Georgetown, including devices moved by human power.
This chapter is declared to be remedial and shall be construed to secure the beneficial intent and purposes thereof which are to eliminate dangerous conditions detrimental to public good and to protect the public health, safety and general welfare of residents of the Town of Georgetown and visitors to the town.
It shall be unlawful for any person to throw, hand out or distribute or cause to be thrown, handed out or distributed any item, including but not limited to food, candy, toys, promotional materials or any other item from vehicles participating in parades in the Town of Georgetown.
It shall be unlawful for any person who is a pedestrian participant in a parade in the Town of Georgetown to throw or cause to be thrown any item, including but not limited to food, candy, toys, promotional materials or any other item during a parade in the Town of Georgetown.
It shall be unlawful for any person who is a pedestrian participant in a parade in the Town of Georgetown to hand out or distribute or cause to be handed out or distributed any item, including but not limited to food, candy, toys, promotional materials or any other item during a parade in the Town of Georgetown if, as a result of said handing out or distributing of said items, persons watching the parade are caused to enter into the streets of the Town of Georgetown in order to retrieve said items.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction in a court of competent jurisdiction shall be fined not less than $25 and no more than $100, and shall pay the cost of prosecution.
