The Madison Alliance Addressing Substance Abuse
is hereby established for the aforementioned purposes.
The Alliance will be recognized as an advisory
committee and will report to the Mayor and Council.
The Alliance shall consist of 15 to 20 members
and shall include broad representation from all segments of the Madison
community, including, without limitation, the following:
D. Chief of Police or designee.
F. Superintendent of Schools or representative.
G. Student Assistance Coordinator: Project Pride.
H. Parent-Teacher Association representative.
I. High School and Junior High School Administration
members.
J. Representative of the local bargaining unit for teachers.
K. Representative(s) of local business.
L. Recreation Department representative.
M. Teen Center Board representative.
N. Representative(s) of local civic associations.
O. Representative(s) of local religious groups.
All members of the Alliance shall be appointed
by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Borough Council.
The initial members shall be appointed within
60 days after the effective date of this chapter, and their terms
shall commence on the day of their appointment. With respect to the
initial members, five shall be appointed for initial terms of one
year; five shall be appointed for initial terms of two years; the
remaining members shall be appointed for initial terms of three years.
The term of each member appointed shall be designated in his appointment.
All subsequent appointments, except to fill vacancies, shall be for
the full three-year term. There are no restrictions on reappointment
and all vacancies shall be filled, for the unexpired term, by the
Mayor with the advice of Council.
The Alliance shall hold regular meetings with
a calendar of meetings established in advance. Minutes of all meetings
shall be taken to serve as public record. A majority of Alliance members
shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
