[Adopted 11-10-1975 by Ord. No. 103;

Art. II)]
It shall be unlawful for any person to consume or possess in any open
container any alcoholic beverage while:
A. On public property, unless authorized by a governmental entity
that has jurisdiction over the property.
B. On any mall, adjacent parking areas or other outside area of
any combination of privately owned retail establishments, i.e., shopping centers,
where the general public is invited for business purposes.
C. On an adjacent parking area of some other outside area of any
other retail establishment.
D. In any parked vehicle located on any of the places enumerated
in this section.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
PUBLIC PROPERTY
Includes any building, ground, park, recreational facility, street,
highway, alley, sidewalk, station, terminal or other structure, road or parking
area located on land owned, leased or operated by the federal government,
the state, the county or the municipality.
The Mayor and Council members of the Town of Sykesville reserve the
right, at their discretion and in the best interests of the citizens of the
Town of Sykesville, to grant on special occasions and other events an exception
to the provisions of this chapter.
Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be subject to
a fine not to exceed $100, or imprisonment for not more than 30 days, or both,
in the discretion of the Court.
