All hydrants are under the control of the Town of
Chenango Water Department. No person except an employee of the Town
of Chenango or a fireman in the performance of authorized firematic
duties shall open, disturb or use any hydrant or take water therefrom
under any circumstances without the consent of the Water Superintendent.
A representative of the fire company is to notify the Water Department
when hydrants are used for practice.
Any person, including firemen, shall report the use
of any hydrant to the Water Superintendent on the next regular workday
so that the hydrant can be checked by the Water Department.
Hydrants shall be periodically painted by color code
adopted by the National Fire Protection Association, which colors
shall indicate the flow capacity at the hydrant. No person, except
Water Department personnel, shall paint any hydrant. No person shall
in any way deface any hydrant or in any way obstruct any hydrant from
use, either by planting trees or shrubs between the hydrant and the
street or in any other way place any obstruction between the hydrant
and the street.
Violation of any of the provisions of this regulation
is an offense, and any person so violating shall be subject to a fine
not exceeding $50 or imprisonment not to exceed 30 days, or both.
