[Amended 8-5-2008 by Ord. No. 246-2008]
Any person who violates any provision of this article shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25 and costs; provided, however, that it shall be the duty of police officers and parking enforcement personnel of the Township to report to the Township Manager and the Board of Supervisors all violations of any provisions of this article, indicating, in each case, the section violated, the license number of the vehicle involved in the violation, the location where the violation took place and any other facts that might be necessary in order to secure a clear understanding of the circumstances attending the violation. The police officer or other person making the report shall also attach to or place upon every such vehicle a notice stating that the vehicle was parked in violation of this article. The notice shall contain instructions to the owner or driver of the vehicle that if he will report to the Administrative Offices of the Township and pay the sum of $25 within 72 hours after the time of the notice, or if he shall by first class mail postage prepaid remit the sum of $25, to the Bern Township Police Department, 1069 Old Bernville Road, Reading, Pennsylvania 19605, that act will save the violator from prosecution and from payment of the fine and costs prescribed in the first sentence of this section. In the event that the violator does not remit payment to the Township as set forth above or indicates a desire to plead not guilty, a citation will be issued against the violator before the appropriate issuing authority. Thereafter, a summons will be issued and the case will proceed pursuant to the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure.
