The Howell Township Environmental Commission
has prepared a map dated July 1978 designated as the "Howell Township
Stream Naming Map." Such map has been submitted to the United States
Board on Geographic Names for approval of the names proposed for streams
in the Township. The Board has approved the names as set forth on
such map. It is desirable for the Township to have an authority naming
the several watercourses which flow in and through the Township.
A certain map prepared by the Howell Township
Environmental Commission dated July 1978 and titled "Howell Township
Stream Naming Map" is hereby adopted as the stream naming map for
the Township. The map shall contain and be interpreted in accordance
with the following legend: "The purpose of this map is to assist interested
parties in determining the names of various watercourses which flow
regularly or intermittently through the Township of Howell where that
information is otherwise unavailable. This map is not nor is it intended
to be geographically precise and thus the true location of any watercourse
must be determined by other means."
