The purpose of this article is to benefit the
public health, safety and welfare and to establish a requirement that
the police communication system work throughout the Township, including
inside of large buildings.
In any commercial building greater than 10,000
square feet there must be adequate Police Department communications
throughout the building. Adequate communications shall be determined
by the Police Chief or his or her designee and shall be solely within
his or her discretion. If adequate communication is not available,
the Construction Official shall not issue a certificate of occupancy
or a temporary certificate of occupancy.
If it is determined that there is not adequate
communications, the Police Department shall specify a solution to
the situation, which can include a requirement that the owner/developer
install an antenna, repeater, or other such equipment to provide communications
within the building. The solution shall be designed by owner/developer
to meet the specifications of the Township's consultant as it applies
to the compatibility with the Township Police Department equipment.
Any and all expenses, including design fees, shall be paid by the
owner/developer. Only after such equipment is installed and adequate
communications established shall the Construction Official issue a
certificate of occupancy or a temporary certificate of occupancy.
