[Adopted 5-28-1996 by Ord. 778-A-96]
There is hereby established within the Township of Brick and under the administration of the Municipal Court and the Judge of the Municipal Court a Driver Improvement Program dedicated to improving skills of automobile drivers residing in the Township of Brick and further providing a method of training those drivers who by their actions and driving records have shown a need for driver improvement and education.
Any person having a valid New Jersey motor vehicle license or who is qualified and is seeking to obtain a New Jersey motor vehicle license and is a resident of Brick Township may apply for the Driver Improvement Program created hereunder. Any person who has been found guilty of any violation involving the operation of a motor vehicle by the Municipal Court of the Township of Brick may as a part of any penalty imposed by the Judge of the Municipal Court be required to attend the Driver Improvement Program established hereunder. For the purposes of such admission and education, appropriate forms and program shall be provided.
An application fee of $55 shall be charged to any person attending the Driver Improvement Program provided for hereunder. In the discretion of the Judge of the Municipal Court and for good cause shown, said fee may be waived in whole or in part or be allowed to be paid in payments if payment of the full application fee at a single time would represent an unreasonable burden on the person seeking education and the need for such education outweighs the need for immediate full payment of the fee provided for herein.
