There is hereby created and established a Municipal Utilities Authority,
a body corporate and politic under the name and style of the "Brick Township
Municipal Utilities Authority," pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40:14B-1
et seq.

Said Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority is created for the
following purposes, without limitation, however, as to the power and authority
conferred upon such Authority by law:
A. For the provision and distribution of an adequate supply
of water for the public and private use of the Township of Brick and of its
residents.
B. For the relief of waters in or bordering the state from
pollution arising from causes within the Township and the relief of waters
not bordering or entering the Township from pollution or threatened pollution
and the consequent improvement of conditions affecting the public health.
C. For the provision of sewage collection and disposal service
within or without the municipal limits of the Township.
D. For the provision of water supply and distribution service
in such areas without the municipal limits of the Township as is provided
by law.

A. Pursuant to the authority granted the municipal governing
body by N.J.S.A. 40:14B-17, the Municipal Utilities Authority is hereby authorized
to compensate its members, including alternate members, for their services
at no more than $2,650 per year.

B. Pursuant to the authority granted the municipal governing
body by N.J.S.A. 40:14B-7, the Municipal Utilities Authority is hereby authorized
to compensate the Chairman for his services no more than $3,180 per year.

A. The Township Council may appoint two members to the Brick
Township Municipal Utilities Authority as alternates. Alternate members shall
be designated by the governing body as "Alternate No. 1" and "Alternate No.
2" and shall serve during the absence or disqualification of any regular member
or members. In the case of an absence or disqualification of any member or
regular members, Alternate No. 1 shall serve first. For all subsequent absences
or disqualifications, Alternate No. 1 and Alternate No. 2 shall take alternate
turns serving.
B. The term of each alternate member shall be five years
commencing on February 1 of the year of appointment; provided, however, the
initial term for Alternate No. 1 shall be five years and Alternate No. 2 shall
be four years.
C. Alternate members may participate in discussions of the
proceedings but may not vote except in the absence or disqualification of
a regular member. A vote shall not be delayed in order that a regular member
may vote instead of an alternate member.
The Township Clerk be and is hereby directed to file a certified copy
of this chapter upon its adoption with the Secretary of State.
