No household in the Borough shall own, keep, or harbor more
than a total of six dogs, six cats, or any combination of dogs and
cats in excess of six animals in total. A household may own, keep,
and harbor both dogs and cats, as long as the total number of dogs
and cats does not exceed six. Any household having more than the permitted
number of dogs and cats licensed in the Borough when this article
takes effect may continue to own, keep, harbor, and relicense these
animals, provided the owner has complied with all other relevant ordinances
of the Borough and the Board of Health. When a dog or cat dies, or
is given away or sold, it may not be replaced if the household in
which the dog or cat was owned, kept, or harbored at that time is
in excess of the permitted number of dogs, cats, or dogs and cats
combined per household.
