The purpose of this article of the Code of the City of Brigantine as it relates to canvassers, solicitors and noncommercial handbill solicitors who go from door to door is to advance the interests of the City of Brigantine in attempting to control crime within said City and to protect the privacy of the citizens of the City of Brigantine, including the peaceful and quiet enjoyment of activities within their homes. Any organizations which feel aggrieved by this article should contact the City of Brigantine concerning alternative channels of communication which can be used to communicate any speech protected by the United States Constitution.
Any resident of the City of Brigantine is entitled to place a no-soliciting or other type sign on or in its property in a place where said sign is visible and can be read by any potential solicitor, canvasser or other person traveling from door to door within the City of Brigantine. Any such canvasser, solicitor or other such person traveling from door to door within the City of Brigantine shall, upon seeing any such no-soliciting sign, immediately refrain from entering upon the property where said sign is posted and from attempting to contact, at said person's property, the owner or resident of said property for the purposes of canvassing, soliciting or other activity conducted from door to door within the City of Brigantine.
