All service stations or garages providing for the self-service dispensing
of flammable liquids by persons other than the owner, lessee, tenant, agent,
servant or authorized employees shall comply with the following provisions:
A. An Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc., approved fixed-pipe
dry chemical extinguishing system, provided with both automatic and manual
controls, shall be installed at each pump island where self-service is utilized.
Such extinguishing system shall be approved by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
B. The manual control shall be clearly identified, easily
accessible and installed at the control console (remote control).
C. All employees shall be trained as to the location and
use of the remote control manual operation of the system.
D. Each extinguisher head shall be installed in such a manner
that the accumulation of ice or snow shall not adversely affect the operation
of the system.
Any person or entity violating the provisions of this article shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Article
