In accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:4-10, every bicycle when in use
at nighttime shall be equipped with a lamp on the front which shall
emit a white light visible from a distance of at least 500 feet to
the front and with a lamp on the rear which shall emit a red light
visible from a distance of at least 500 feet in the rear.
In accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:4-10.1, a person under 14 years
of age shall not operate or ride upon a bicycle as a passenger unless
that person is wearing a properly fitted and fastened bicycle helmet
meeting the standards required by law.
In accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:4-11, no person shall operate
a bicycle unless it is equipped with a bell or other device capable
of giving a signal audible for a distance of at least 100 feet, except
that a bicycle shall not be equipped with nor shall any person use
upon a bicycle any siren or whistle.
In accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:4-12, a person propelling or
riding on a bicycle shall not ride other than upon or astride a permanent
and regular seat attached thereto, nor shall be ride with his feet
removed from the pedals, or with both hands removed from the handlebars,
nor shall be practice any trick or fancy riding in the street.
No bicycle shall be used to carry more persons at one time than
the number for which it is designed and equipped.
Nothing in this chapter shall impair or prohibit the Borough
from employing the police bicycles as they see fit in carrying out
the duties and responsibilities in protecting the health, safety and
welfare of the general public.
Every person, firm, association, organization or corporation violating any provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be liable to the penalty stated in Chapter
1, Article
II, General Penalty.

No person shall ride a bicycle, skateboard, roller skates or
scooter on the sidewalks of Third Avenue at any point located between
Washington and Passaic Avenues daily between the hours of 10:00 a.m.
and 5:00 p.m.
