Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:27D-222 et seq. an owner of a multiple dwelling, as defined under Section 3 of P.L. 1967, c. 76 (N.J.S.A. 55:13A-3), which is comprised of more than 20 dwelling units and reserves occupancy for residents who have attained the minimum age of 55 years shall prepare and maintain an emergency evacuation plan for the multiple dwelling, in coordination with the Fire Marshal of the Borough of Spring Lake, the Emergency Management Coordinator and any other appropriate local fire and emergency response agencies.
The owner shall design an evacuation plan for said multiple dwelling in accordance with the Uniform Fire Safety Act (N.J.S.A. 52:27D-192 et seq.).
The plan shall also identify and provide for potential hazards that could necessitate an evacuation including internal and external disasters such as a natural disaster or interruption of utility services that might affect the heath or safety of the residents.
The owner shall conduct at least one evacuation drill each year. If requested by the Fire Marshal of the Borough of Spring Lake or the Emergency Management Coordinator.
The evacuation plan shall be reviewed at least annually and revised as needed.
A copy of the plan shall be on file at the multiple dwelling and copies shall be provided to the Fire Marshal of the Borough of Spring Lake and the Emergency Management Coordinator.
Every person, firm, association, organization or corporation violating any provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be liable to the penalty stated in Chapter 1, Article II, General Penalty.
