It shall be unlawful to kindle or maintain any bonfire or other
fire or to authorize any such fire to be kindled or maintained on
or in any street, avenue, road, lane or public ground or upon any
private lot within the limits of the Borough of West Conshohocken
unless the said fire is confined to a safe, approved metal or other
noncombustible container or receptacle and then only when kept under
constant observation by an adult person until said fire is extinguished.
It shall be unlawful to deposit ashes, smoldering coals or embers,
greasy or oily substances or other matter liable to spontaneous combustion
within 10 feet of any wooden or plastered wall, partition, fence,
floor, sidewalk, lumber, hay, shavings, rubbish or other combustible
material except in metallic containers, unless resting on the ground
outside the building, and containers must be placed on noncombustible
stands and in every case must be kept at least two feet from any wall
or partition.
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, firm or corporation making, using, storing or having charge or control of any shavings, excelsior, rubbish, sacks, bags, letters, heavy straw or other combustible trash or fragments to fail, neglect or refuse at the close of each day to cause all such material which is not completely baled, stacked or in an orderly manner to be removed from the premises or stored in a noncombustible receptacle as prescribed in §
56-2 or to allow such material to obstruct the free and easy exit and entrance from and to any fire escape.
It shall be unlawful for any person to store packing boxes,
barrels or similar combustible containers, except in the open, without
obtaining a permit from the Chief of the Fire Department; provided,
however, no permit shall be required for the storage within a manufacturing
or other establishment of sufficient packing cases, boxes or similar
containers to properly carry on its daily operations. Storage in the
open of packing cases, boxes, barrels or other similar combustible
containers must not be more than 20 feet in height and must be at
least 50 feet from the nearest building.
Chimneys, furnaces or smokestacks found defective shall be immediately
repaired upon written or printed notice from the Chief of the Fire
Department. Such notice shall contain a specific statement of danger
or hazard and a recommendation of the change or changes to be made.
It shall be unlawful to burn garbage.
The Chief or Assistant Chiefs of the West Conshohocken Fire
Department and the Fire Marshal of the West Conshohocken District
of the County of Montgomery, or any of them, shall have full power
to enforce all the provisions of this article, to approve types of
receptacles or containers mentioned in this article, to make inspections
and to notify any person or persons of fire hazards and to bring complaints
against any person or persons, firms, associations or corporations
neglecting to comply with the order or notice issued pursuant to the
provisions of this article.

Any person violating the provisions of this article shall be subject to the provisions detailed in Chapter
53A of the Code of the Borough of West Conshohocken.
