The Uniform Fire Code, N.J.A.C. 5:70 et seq.,
requires certain properties to be equipped with automatic alarm systems
and/or sprinkler systems. Such automatic systems may cause the Fire
Department of the Borough of Allendale to be summoned at a time when
the structure is not occupied or when the occupant is not able to
provide entry for the Fire Department. Accordingly, the Borough of
Allendale intends to prevent damage through forceful entry to structures
and furthermore to provide swift entry to structures by the Fire Department.
Under N.J.A.C. 5:70-1.4(c) et seq., a municipality may, by ordinance,
make its fire code more restrictive than the Uniform Fire Code.
All buildings subject to this article shall
comply within 12 months from the effective date hereof. All buildings
under construction or new, unoccupied buildings on the effective date
hereof shall comply immediately.
Any owner, occupant and/or tenant of a building
who violates this article shall be subject to penalties as set forth
in the Uniform Fire Code.
