As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
JUNK MOTOR VEHICLE
Any automobile or other motor vehicle which is no longer
in actual use as a motor vehicle, which is unlicensed or unregistered,
which is wholly unfit without rebuilding or reconditioning for use
on a public highway or which has been discarded for use as a motor
vehicle.
STREET
Any street over which the Township Police have enforcement
responsibilities for motor vehicle regulations.
No person shall park, leave or store any inoperable,
unlicensed, uninspected or unregistered junk motor vehicle or vehicle
parts on any public land, streets or premises, except in case of emergency,
and then for a period of not more than 24 hours.
No person shall park, leave, store or maintain
any inoperable, unlicensed, uninspected or unregistered motor vehicle
or vehicle parts for a period of more than 30 days upon any private
land or premises. Any such storage shall be limited to no more than
one such junk motor vehicle at any time, and no more than two in any
calendar year.
No owner or occupier of any private lands or
premises shall permit any junk motor vehicle or parts thereof to be
stored or maintained on his lands or premises for more than 30 days.
This chapter shall not apply to motor vehicles,
trucks, trailers or automotive parts stored in a garage or other building
and shall not apply to motor vehicles used for farming or agricultural
purposes.
This chapter will be enforced by the Police
Department of the Township of Plainsboro in all matters where it has
jurisdiction. The Zoning Officer of the Township of Plainsboro will
enforce all of the remaining provisions of this chapter.
Violators of this chapter shall be punishable
by a fine up to the limits imposed under the general penalty section
of this code, the amount to be at the court's discretion. Any person
who, after conviction of in offense under this chapter, is convicted
of another offense under this chapter shall, for such other and subsequent
offense, be punishable by a fine or imprisonment, the maximum limits
of which shall be twice the limits otherwise imposed by this section,
or by both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court.
