The Municipal Court of the city, heretofore
established as of January 1, 1949, in accordance with law, is hereby
continued.
The name of the Municipal Court shall be the
"Municipal Court of the City of Rahway."
The Municipal Court shall have an Official Seal,
which shall bear the impress of the name of the Court.

A. The Mayor, with the advice and consent of the City
Council, may appoint up to two Municipal Judges. The Judges so appointed
shall have the qualifications required by law and shall serve for
a term of three years from the date of their appointment, or some
lesser period of time, if permitted by the Superior Court, and until
their successor is appointed and qualified. The Mayor may appoint
one of the Municipal Judges to serve as Chief Judge.
B. The compensation for the Municipal Judges shall be
fixed by ordinance. The compensation so paid shall be in lieu of any
and all other fees.
The Municipal Court and the Municipal Judge
shall have, possess and exercise all the jurisdiction, powers, functions
and duties which are or may be conferred by law and the applicable
rules of the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
There shall be a Clerk of the Municipal Court,
who shall be appointed by the governing body. The Clerk shall perform
such functions and duties as shall be prescribed for him by law, by
the rules of the Supreme Court of New Jersey applicable to Municipal
Courts and by the Municipal Judge.
The Municipal Judge of the city and the Clerk
of the Municipal Court, before entering upon the duties of their respective
offices, shall enter into a bond as required by law.
