Any person desiring to construct or cause to
be constructed any sewer to be used for sanitary purposes or to drain
any lands, any part of which sewer will be in any street or in any
public land or which will connect in any manner to any public sewer
or truck sewer in the city, shall first obtain a permit from the City
Engineer. The request for a permit shall be accompanied by a plan
and profile of the proposed extension, drawn by a professional engineer
licensed in the State of New Jersey and shall show the location, size,
grade, manholes, taps, type of pipe and pipe bedding and such other
information that the City Engineer may require.
Upon issuance of a permit under this article,
the sewer shall be constructed in strict accordance with the conditions
of approval and the standard specifications on file in the office
of the City Engineer.
The City Engineer shall be given 24 hours' prior
notice of the commencement of the work, and the work shall be performed
under his direction or by his authorized representative. The permittee
shall pay to the city an inspection fee equal in amount to the compensation
paid to the Engineer or to his representative by the city.
The City Engineer shall have the authority to
require such changes in submitted plans as he may deem advisable if,
in his professional judgment, it is in the best interests of the city
so to do.
