Subdivision of land — See Ch. 93.
Pennsylvania Avenue and Robinson Avenue shall each be established as a base to fix and control the numbering of stores, houses and buildings fronting on any public street, lane or alley within the corporate limits of the Borough of Pen Argyl. The first entrance to buildings now or hereafter on the corners of streets running south of Pennsylvania Avenue shall be Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, and continuing thereafter in a southerly direction in an increasing rotation, with the odd numbers on the westerly side of such streets and even numbers on the easterly side of such streets, and 99 numbers shall be allotted inclusive of both sides of the streets in each block of streets. The same system shall be in force on streets running north from Pennsylvania Avenue, and the same system shall also be in force on streets running easterly and westerly from Robinson Avenue, save and except that odd numbers shall be on the northerly side of such streets and even numbers on the southerly side thereof.
A certain map marked "System of House Numbering for Borough of Pen Argyl, Penna. Dated October 6, 1914, designed by P. N. Plenty," now on file with the Borough Secretary of Pen Argyl Borough, shall be adopted and filed with the records of the Borough and shall be the standard map reference as to the system of house numbering hereby established, and, further, the Borough Secretary is not to allow the said map to go out of the Municipal Building and is not to allow the said map to be used for any purpose whatsoever other than for house number reference.
It shall be the duty of the Borough Secretary to furnish all property owners, upon request being made therefor, with information as to the numbers assigned to his or her buildings or entrance thereto, and to make a record thereof in a book for that purpose to be called "Borough House Number Book."
It shall be the duty of the owner or owners of improved property within the corporate limits of the Borough, on or before the first day of April 1915, to place or have placed on their respective store, house or building, on or over or alongside of each and every entrance thereto fronting on any public street, lane or alley in said Borough, the number or numbers of each respective entrance according to the system herein set forth or hereafter in force in said Borough, as the same shall be assigned to such entrance or entrances by the Borough Secretary or as has heretofore been assigned by P. N. Plenty, who was authorized to make an assignment of such numbers.
It shall be the duty of the owner or owners of every store, house or building hereafter erected within the corporate limits of the Borough to conspicuously place or have placed within 10 days after the said store, house or building is completed or used or occupied, on or over or alongside of each and every entrance thereto fronting on any public street, lane or alley in said Borough, the number or numbers of such respective entrances as shall be assigned to such entrance or entrances by the Borough Secretary upon application made to him for such assignment of number or numbers.

No digit comprising the said number or numbers shall be of smaller dimensions that three inches high by two inches wide. Such numbers shall be of durable metal or may be painted legibly upon, over or alongside of said entrance or entrances.

Any person or persons who shall violate any of the provisions of either §§ 78-4, 78-5 or 78-6, or, having once complied with the provisions thereof, shall thereafter suffer or permit his or her or their store, house or building or any of the entrances thereto to be and remain for the space of 20 days without proper number or numbers placed conspicuously and legibly thereon or over or alongside of each and every entrance thereto fronting as aforesaid, as hereinbefore directed, shall, on conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25, together with costs of suit, to be recovered in the same manner as fines and penalties for violation of Borough ordinances are by law collected.
