There is hereby designated, in the Town/Village
of East Rochester, a public official to be known as the "Building
Inspector," who shall be appointed by the Town/Village Board of Trustees
of the Town/Village of East Rochester, serving pursuant to the civil
service list and at a compensation to be fixed by the Town/Village
Board of Trustees. It shall be his duty to administer and enforce
the provisions of all laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and orders
applicable to the location, design, materials, inspection, alteration,
repair, equipment, maintenance, use, occupancy, removal and demolition
of buildings and structures and their appurtenances located in the
Town/Village of East Rochester and to perform such other duties as
may be assigned to him by the Board.
The Building Inspector may request and shall
receive, as far as may be necessary in the discharge of his duties,
the assistance and cooperation of the Police and Fire Departments
and of all municipal officials exercising any jurisdiction over the
construction, use or occupancy of buildings or the installation of
equipment therein.
In the absence of the Building Inspector, or
in the case of his disqualification or inability to act, the Mayor
shall have the power, with the consent of the Board of Trustees, to
designate a person to act in his behalf and to exercise all the powers
conferred upon him by this chapter during such absence, disqualification
or inability to act.
