A. Definitions. As used in this article, the following
terms shall have the meanings indicated:
ELIGIBLE
An extension shown on the Water System Map, Exhibit A hereto, which is eligible for a water extension permit hereunder.
An extension deemed eligible shall not be entitled to a permit unless
all other requirements of this chapter and other pertinent regulations
have been satisfied. The depiction of an extension as eligible shall
not be construed as a representation that the Town of Franklin shall
set aside funds for the construction of said extension.
WATER EXTENSION PERMIT
The document issued by the Town of Franklin Department of
Public Works, as set forth in § 179-9A of these regulations.
WATER SYSTEM MAP
The map referred to as Exhibit A, dated September 16, 1998,
filed with the Town Clerk herein and adopted by the Franklin Town
Council to define the municipal sewer system to include existing water
main lines, public wells, water tanks, pump or booster stations and
private water mains; and unbuilt water main extensions eligible for
a water extension permit; and unbuilt pump or booster stations eligible
for a sewer connection or extension permit. The Water System Map may
be amended from time to time by the Town Council in accordance with
the procedures set forth herein.
B. In order to protect the health and safety of the residents
of the community, the following water supply connection and extension
requirements are adopted under the authority of MGL c. 43B, § 13,
of the Home Rule Procedure Act.

Where indicated on Exhibit A, industrial and residential subdivisions and commercial and multifamily developments shall be required to contain a water distribution system that meets or exceeds the specifications set forth in §
179-7.

A. When a development is shown adjacent to an eligible
water main extension, as set forth on the Water System Map, Exhibit
A hereto, such development may apply for a water extension permit.
B. When a development is not shown adjacent to an eligible
water main extension, as set forth on the Water System Map, Exhibit
A, attached hereto, such development need not comply with this article.
No building permit shall be issued for any development
that does not comply with the requirements of this article.
