[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Hewlett Harbor 1-14-1988 by L.L. No. 1-1988. Amendments noted where applicable.]
Pursuant to the provisions of Article 150 of the Criminal Procedure Law of the State of New York and the Municipal Home Rule Law of the State of New York, the persons hereinafter set forth are designated as public servants of the Incorporated Village of Hewlett Harbor for the purpose of issuing and serving appearance tickets for the enforcement of any statute, local law, ordinance, rule or regulation less than felony grade relating to parking, licensing of occupations or businesses, fire prevention and safety, health and sanitation and building, zoning and planning.
The issuance and service of appearance tickets shall have the same force and effect as if served by a police officer. However, such appearance ticket may only be issued and served when the public servant has reasonable cause to believe that such person has committed a misdemeanor or has committed a petty offense in his presence.
The following persons are hereby designated public servants of the Incorporated Village of Hewlett Harbor who are authorized to issue and serve appearance tickets:

The Mayor.
B. 
The members of the Board of Trustees.
C. 
The Building Inspector.
D. 
The Village Clerk.
E. 
The Road Superintendent.
F. 
Security officer.

A public servant who has issued and served an appearance ticket must, at or before the time such appearance ticket is returnable, file or cause to be filed with the local criminal court in which it is returnable an information, simplified information if authorized, or misdemeanor complaint charging the person named in such appearance with the offense specified therein.
