No person shall, within the limits of the Village of Hewlett Harbor, take, hunt or trap any wild birds or animals. The issuance of a license or permit therefor shall be no defense to a violation of this chapter.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
TAKE AND HUNT
Include pursuing, shooting, hunting, killing, capturing, trapping, snaring and netting wild birds and animals and all lesser acts, such as disturbing, harrying or worrying or placing, setting, drawing or using any net or other device commonly used to take wild birds and animals, whether they result in taking or not, and includes every attempt to take and every act of assistance to any other person in taking or attempting to take wild birds or animals.
TRAP
Includes taking, killing and capturing wild animals with traps, deadfalls and other devices and all lesser acts such as placing, setting or staking traps, deadfalls and other devices commonly used to take wild animals, whether they result in taking or not, and includes every attempt to take and every act of assistance to any other person in taking or attempting to take wild animals with traps, deadfalls or other devices.
A person who counsels, aids or assists in a violation of any of the provisions of this chapter or knowingly shares in any of the proceeds of said violation by receiving or possessing either wild birds or animals shall be deemed to have incurred the penalties provided for a violation of this chapter against the person guilty of such violation.
The violation of any provision of this chapter shall be an offense which shall be punishable as provided in § 1-15 of this Code.
