The inspections under the Building Code shall be performed by the Building Inspector; the inspections under the Fire Prevention Code shall also be performed by the Building Inspector, who shall be designated as the Code Enforcement Official in accordance with the Code provisions.

The fee for a permit for demolition and for fire safety inspection and permit for all buildings as required by the Code shall be as set forth in Chapter A149, Fees.

The Building Code and Fire Prevention Code (which shall be known as the "New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code," effective January 1, 1984) shall be enforced as provided in the rules promulgated by the Secretary of State.

The Building Inspector and/or his/her assistant shall administer and enforce the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention Code, New York State Building Code and New York State Energy Conservation Code in conjunction with the Code of the Village of Hewlett Harbor.

No building or part of a building shall be hereafter constructed or altered in such a manner that the floor of the portion thereof so constructed or altered and used or usable for living accommodations (excluding basement, open porches, breezeways, unheated areas and garage) shall have an elevation less than nine feet above mean sea level datum at Sandy Hook as determined by the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey. Any building or part of a building heretofore constructed or altered which fails to comply with the foregoing requirement may, nevertheless, be used and maintained and may be reconstructed or altered on condition that the floor of the portion thereof so reconstructed or altered and used or usable for living accommodations (excluding basement, open porches, breezeways, unheated areas and garage) shall have an elevation not less than that of the living accommodations of such building as it now exists. Such elevation may be ascertained by reference to bench marks or other monuments installed and maintained in the vicinity of the Village of Hewlett Harbor by the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey or the County of Nassau or other public authority, or other reference points designated by the Building Inspector of the Village.
