This chapter is enacted pursuant to the authority of Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York, and shall be known as the "Games of Chance Law of the Village of Weedsport, New York."
The words and terms used in this chapter shall have the same meaning as such words and terms are used in Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York unless otherwise provided herein, or the context requires a different meaning.
Games of chance may be conducted in the Village of Weedsport by an authorized organization after obtaining a license therefor in accordance with the provisions, requirements, and limitations of Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York, and the rules and regulations of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board.
A violation of this chapter shall be punishable pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article I, General Penalty, of the Code of the Village of Weedsport.
This chapter shall become effective upon filing with the Secretary of State of the State of New York, following its approval at referendum by a majority of qualified voters thereon at a general election held pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Home Rule Law.[1]
