The Mayor of the Borough of North Arlington shall and hereby is authorized to provide regulations for the closing of any street or portion thereof to motor vehicle traffic on any day or days whenever he/she finds that such closing is necessary for the preservation of the public safety, health or welfare.
The Mayor shall immediately direct and the Department of Public Works shall immediately post the proper warning signs of such closing in any street or portion thereof during the time the same is closed pursuant to this article.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, Article I, General Penalty, in the discretion of the court. The continuation of such violation for each successive day shall constitute a separate offense, and the person or persons allowing or permitting the continuation of the violation may be punished as provided for each separate offense.
No ordinance or regulation adopted pursuant to this article shall become effective unless and until it shall have been approved by the Commissioner of Transportation of the Department of Transportation.
