The salary and service of each classified employee
with respect to his/her longevity pay shall be fixed and determined
by his/her salary and service on the anniversary of the classified
employee's permanent appointment date.
Additional compensation of any nature, including
overtime, will not be considered in computing longevity payments.
In order to compute the periods for said longevity
payment, credit will be given for all time served with the Borough
of North Arlington, which time must be consecutive and uninterrupted.
Any interruption of service due to a cause beyond the control of the
classified employee, such as military service, injury in the line
of duty or illness, shall be considered as service for the purpose
of determining the compensation of said longevity periods. Leaves
of absence granted at the request of any classified employee will
not be considered in determining length of service.
This chapter shall be retroactive to January
1, 1976, and the longevity pay is to be operative and take effect
January 1, 1976.
