It shall be the duty of the Building Inspector to enforce the Building Code and Zoning Ordinance by making building investigations, examining plans, preparing specifications and initiating legal action against violators of the same; to prepare and deliver to the Board of Assessors, on forms prescribed by said Board, all information pertaining to the alteration and repair of buildings and the construction of new buildings; to prepare and deliver to the Board of Assessors, during the month of October of each year, information concerning buildings under construction with the percentage of completion of the same as of October 1 of each year; to attend all regular and special meetings of the Mayor and Council; and to perform such other duties which may be delegated to him from time to time by ordinance.

It shall also be the duty of the Building Inspector to examine and inspect all buildings owned or occupied by the Borough of Rutherford, and to report in writing to the governing body concerning their condition on the first day of October of each and every year; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to any building maintained and operated by the Trustees of the Free Public Library of Rutherford.
For the above services the Building Inspector shall receive such remuneration as the Mayor and Council may from time to time adopt by ordinance.[1]
