The Borough of Rutherford, in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Service Act of New Jersey and Borough Ordinance Nos. 1422, 1556 and 1950, herewith amends the borough's civil service compensation plan by adopting revised salary ranges and classes of positions as contained in two separate schedules entitled, "Descending List-Full-Time Positions" and "List of Part-Time Positions," which said lists are hereby incorporated herein and adopted by reference.[1]

The yearly compensation or yearly salary without increments, payable at an hourly rate, and the compensation or salary ranges, as set forth in the aforesaid attached schedules, are hereby incorporated herein and adopted by reference as and for each and every class and position mentioned in said schedules; provided, however, that the increment payments contained therein are conditioned upon the availability of funds for the same. Entitlement to said salary increments shall accrue as of January 1 of each year and shall be paid retroactively to that date, after adoption of the municipal budget for that year. However, new employees hired after June 30 of any year shall not be entitled to any increment until January 1 of the second year of their employment.
A. 
In addition to the salaries set forth in said schedules for members of the Police Department, such patrolmen and officers who are from time to time assigned to the Detective Bureau of the Police Department shall each receive additional compensation of $300 per annum; provided, however, that such patrolmen and officers shall only be entitled to said additional compensation for as long as they remain assigned to the Detective Bureau, and, upon reassignment to other duties in the Police Department, such additional compensation shall cease.
B. 
In addition to the salaries set forth in said schedules for members of the Police Department:

(1) 
All members of the Police Department shall be entitled to 14 paid holidays, said holidays are to be New Year's Day, Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Good Friday, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, General Election Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, based upon the annual salary rate.
(2) 
The members of the Police Department shall be paid for seven holidays during the month of June and shall be paid for seven holidays during the month of November.

A. 
In addition to the salaries set forth in said schedules, the Borough of Rutherford shall pay additional sums per annum to full-time employees based on length of service to the borough in accordance with the following schedule:
(1) 
Five years of service: 1% of the then current salary of the employee.
(2) 
Ten years of service: 3% of the then current salary of the employee.
(3) 
Fifteen years of service: 5% of the then current salary of the employee.
(4) 
Twenty of service: 7% of the then current salary of the employee.
(5) 
Twenty-five years of service: 8% of the then current salary of the employee.
B. 
Longevity payments shall be effective on the earliest of either July 1 or January 1 next following the anniversary date of employment.
The provisions of this chapter with respect to increments shall only apply to those employees who have satisfactorily performed the duties of their positions.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
This chapter shall take effect immediately upon publication according to law.
