GENERAL REFERENCES

Within 60 days of the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, all buildings within the Town shall display street numbers as assigned by the Director of Public Works or his designee in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
The Director of Public Works or his designee shall assign numbers to all new construction as it occurs and keep records of the numbers so assigned.
A. 
Where the residence or structure is within 50 feet of the edge of a street right-of-way, the assigned number shall be displayed on the front of the residence or structure in the vicinity of the front door or entry.
B. 
Where the residence or structure is over 50 feet from the edge of the street right-of-way, the assigned number shall be displayed on a post, fence, wall or the mailbox at the property line adjacent to the walk or access drive to the residence or structure.
All numerals shall be of such color as to contrast with the background on which they are placed, shall be uniform in height and width but not less than three inches in height and corresponding width.
Where entrances to buildings are not plainly visible from the road or street, the corresponding building number shall be displayed on the front of the building or upon any convenient placard on the front of the lot.
Responsibility for enforcement of this chapter rests with the Director of Public Works or his designee. Any person violating this chapter by failing to properly number his property will be subject to a fine not exceeding $25.
