Horse stables — See R.I.G.L. 23-28.31.1 et seq.
A. Every commercial horse stable constructed within the
Town, and every addition made thereto, or any building converted for use in
whole or in part as a horse stable, shall be of noncombustible construction
throughout.
B. Each building shall be provided with adequate roof vents.
C. Stables shall be protected adequately with an approved
fire detection system connected to the nearest local fire department.
D. Living accommodations (cooking, sleeping, etc.) shall
be separate from the immediate area of the stable.
E. Heat-producing devices (submersible water heaters, area
heaters, hot plates, etc.) shall be prohibited from stables.
No smoking shall be permitted within the stable area. No smoking sign
shall be prominently displayed prohibiting smoking within stalls and shed
rows.
All buildings shall be provided with a two-and-one-half-gallon pressurized
water or equivalent Class “A” fire extinguisher located so that
a person will not have to travel more than 50 feet to reach the nearest fire
extinguisher.
A fire watch shall be maintained 24 hours a day when a stable area is
occupied by 16 or more horses.
Adequate fire lanes shall be provided around each stable and are to
be kept passable at all times.
